What personal data we collect and why we collect it
We collect and hold personal data that you have submitted when you use our contact form and when you register as a customer/user on our site to allow us to answer your inquiries, complete your orders and deliver them to you.
We only keep the following:
- your name
- email address
- Postal address
- transactional data of your orders
Any information La Maison Quilting receives from you through this website is kept confidential. La Maison Quilting does not sell, give away or pass on any information to a third party. We sometimes use cookies on the site to provide each user with convenient services that improve their experience on this website. If you do not wish cookies to be used on your computer, we urge you to set your browser preferences to refuse to accept cookies from our site. This will not affect the information available to you, but it may disable some advanced functions.
We measure visitors to our website using Google Analytics. This records what pages you view within our site, how you arrived at our site and some basic information about your computer. As with any website, https://www.lamaisonquilting.com/ has access to and tracks usage patterns on the website on an anonymous basis. Your identity cannot be gathered from this information. Each time you visit our website a web server makes a record of your visit. Specifically, it records your:
- Internet Provider
- Date and time of your visit
- Pages accessed and the documents downloaded
- Search items entered
- Referring URLs – where you entered from
The information we collect from analytics helps us understand what parts of our sites are doing well, and which need changing. Like most websites, we use this information to improve our customer experience. Please see here how Google uses data. You can also opt out if you wish. Any user who identifies themselves as under 13 years old is automatically opted out of our Google Analytics tracking.
Comments
When visitors leave comments on our blog we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.
An anonymised string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media
If you upload images to the blog comments on our website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.
Contact forms
We may keep contact form submissions for customer service purposes, but we do not use the information submitted through them for marketing purposes.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.
If you have an account and you log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
When you register as a new customer on our site your information is sent to our CRM. You will then receive an email from us to ask if you would like to be included in our email marketing service. You will not be subscribed until you confirm. If you choose not to be subscribed then all personal data will be deleted automatically within 3 days.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
Who we share your data with
Your data is not shared with any other service other than those mentioned previously.
How long we retain your data
We keep contact form entries for six months, analytics records for a year, and customer purchase records for ten years.
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognise and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For customers that register on our website, we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
What rights you have over your data
If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
Where we send your data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service. All data is secured by a SSL certificate and is hosted by our server.
How we protect your data
SSL Certificate and double opt-in required for newsletter service.
What data breach procedures we have in place
We will take reasonable measures to ensure the security of any personal information received. This is achieved by way of firewalls, virus programmes, regular updates to computer and network security and secure storage of printed information. If you have registered with La Maison Quilting we also have access to contact information given during the registration process. This will not be given or sold to a third party, it is for your online ordering convenience only.
